Downtown Chanute
will expand and grow economically with all storefronts
occupied and thriving. Upper level living will become a
reality and its growth encouraged. More emphasis will be put
on making downtown a recognized "destination" by careful and
deliberate positioning of retail and service offerings, by
holding more major community events, and by capitalizing on
the historic and aesthetic appeal of our buildings. A
renovated streetscape will flow seamlessly throughout the
district and will reflect the image of an inviting, charming,
friendly and historic downtown.

The main goal of the Organization
committee is to promote the Main Street program by
getting everyone working for the same goal. This
committee is in charge of fundraising, developing
coalitions and partnerships, public relations and
outreach, as well as managing finances and operation.

The main goal foe the Promotions
committee is selling the image and promise of Main
Street by making sure the community knows what downtown
has to offer through events that re-establish downtown
as the center of social activity and excitement. The
goal is to bring people downtown to shop, have fun, work
and invest.

Economic
Restructuring |
Economic Restructuring's goals is to find new
purpose for Main Street's enterprises by restructuring
downtown's economy by expanding current businesses as
well as creating new businesses and building uses that
will tap the market niches and potential.

The goal of Design is to get Main Street into top
physical shape by taking small steps to stay tune to
what downtown has and preserving the story it has to
tell.
